Old Newsletter Photographs
Photographs began to be added to our Newsletters from Airwave 325 Summer 1983, and immediately created that magic ingredient and a feeling of something new being born. The pictures were taken with relatively simple film cameras and the prints pasted onto the pages of the newsletter. These were then photocopied by clanking machines also in their early days of development. The result was often a blotchy black and white picture, depending on the light contrast of the original photograph, and yet recognised as another step forward in the growing world of technology in the 1980's.
Thanks to Gerry G8TRY, we have been lucky to find the original photographs from almost all our newsletters and we thought it would be nice to enhance our newsletter collection with a library here of these original photo's scanned with the latest equipment. We hope you agree.
While browsing through these pictures, please consider if perhaps you also have any photo's hidden away somewhere taken either by yourself or other club members at BBQs, Field Days, DF Hunts or Club Nights etc. We would love to hear from you and perhaps we can add to these here. We know many club members were into photography and that many more pictures were taken, but we don't know who has them or where they are .. or even if they still exist. If you can help, please contact Neil G4OAR at g4oar@wadarc.com
